Trainees

Welcome to the trainees’ section of the website. The purpose of this section is to provide useful information to all trainees in the North Western region with an interest in Intensive Care Medicine, from any background specialty.  We hope that by having an anaesthetic and non-anaesthetic rep then we can be more representative of all trainees.

The site is also a ‘notice board’ on which educational, administrative and social events will be posted, and ideally will act as a training resource as we plan to add case reports/powerpoint presentations to the site.  These will increase as the SpR training program gets started this year.  All other suggestions, comments and contributions are very welcome.

In our role as the ICM trainee representatives we aim to provide up to date information about critical care training and educational issues from the regional STC ICM sub-committee, ANWICU and the Intensive Care Society. Further information about training in Intensive Care may be found via the ‘Useful links’ and ‘Useful contacts’ sections below.

The Association of North Western Intensive Care Units (ANWICU) has been extremely supportive of our activities, enabling regular educational meetings for trainees to take place. The ANWICU Annual Trainees’ Prize Meeting provides a friendly forum for presenting audit and research and the ANWICU Lakes Meeting hosts a Case Report session. The meetings are a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues and see who’s who in the region! Everyone is welcome to the meetings and I would urge you to support ANWICU by becoming a member and paying the very tiny annual subscription fee (£10).
